Vancouver Dr.Yu's Acupuncture Clinic Treatment Methods

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the technique of inserting and manipulating hair-thin needles into specific points on the body that belong to channels of energy, allowing the body to balance itself and restore health.

Ear Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture rebalances the body by stimulating specific points on the ear that correspond to different parts of the body. It is very effective in the treatment of addictions and pain, and it is used in conjunction with regular acupuncture for treating chronic conditions.

Moxibustion

The use of herbs burned above or on the skin in order to warm regions and acupuncture points. This technique stimulates the circulation through the points and induces a smoother flow of blood and energy.

Chinese Medicinal Herbs

Traditionally, it is one of the more important modalities utilized in traditional Chinese medicine. Herbal therapy works in conjunction with acupuncture by providing support for the energetic rebalancing of the body. Each herbal medicine prescription is a combination of several herbs tailored to the individual patient.

Cupping

The application of glass cups to specific areas of the body. Before placing the cup against the skin, a small flame is held inside it in order to create a relative vacuum. This causes the skin to be sucked up into the cup, stimulates the flow of blood and Qi, and clears local stagnation. It is beneficial in the treatment of aches and pains, and it helps in warding off colds.

Tui-Na

Tui-Na is a Chinese manipulative therapy whose purpose is to regulate the functions of internal organs, harmonize the circulation of Qi and blood, and helping the recovery of musculo-skeletal injuries.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)

NMT is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation to balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system (muscles, connective tissue and bones of the body).

Muscle Energy Technique(MET)

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Light-touch therapy that mobilizes the bones, membranes and fluids of the craniosacral system to improve the function of the nervous and endocrine system, and is a highly effective method for releasing tension patterns in the body as a whole.

Self-Regulation Therapy (SRT)
